Get Involved
ASR Library is built by and for the community. There are many ways to help make ASL content accessible.
Submit Videos (Everyone)
Time commitment: A few minutes
Requirements: None - no account needed
The simplest way to help is submitting videos that need transcripts. If you find valuable ASL content that should be accessible to the DeafBlind community, submit it to our catalog.
Good candidates for submission:
- Educational ASL content (grammar lessons, vocabulary, etc.)
- ASL poetry and artistic performances
- Deaf history and cultural content
- News and current events in ASL
- Personal stories and vlogs
Become a Contributor
Time commitment: Flexible - transcribe as many or as few videos as you'd like
Requirements: ASL comprehension, good writing skills
Contributors create transcripts for videos in our catalog. You can choose which videos to work on and which transcript style to create.
What you'll do:
- Browse the catalog for videos that need transcripts
- Watch videos and create transcripts
- Add cultural context and notes where helpful
- Submit your work for steward review
Skills needed:
- Ability to understand ASL (any level of signing)
- Good written English skills
- Attention to detail
- Cultural sensitivity
Tools you can use:
You can transcribe manually or use AI tools to assist. We welcome AI-assisted transcriptions as long as they're reviewed and edited by humans for accuracy.
